Christians not only believe God exists but that God has revealed Himself in the Bible and in the person of Jesus Christ. In the first 11 chapters of the book of Genesis, God reveals Himself as the Creator of time and space, of matter, energy and life. But then something went drastically wrong and we still bear the consequences today. Some Christians readily say that God is our Creator, but feel that other aspects of the Biblical accounts of Creation should be taken as figurative rather than literal, because a literal reading contradicts the assertions of naturalistic science and brings up the uncomfortable topic of sin. In this series David Penny takes the early chapters of Genesis as real history and describes how Genesis is consistent with a universe which had a beginning and a universe that has been devastated by the effects of sin and is now inexorably wearing out - both of which reflect the two foundational laws of science.
